Let’s be honest… when’s the last time you really trusted yourself in your business?
Like really trusted yourself—no validation, no polls, no endless scrolling for inspiration, just your gut and a decision?
If you’ve been deep in a cycle of overthinking, researching, and waiting for the “right” time, this post is your reminder that you’re a badass CEO—and it’s time you started trusting yourself like one.

When the Research Becomes the Roadblock
Somewhere along the way, you got stuck in the loop. You’ve been consuming all the content, trying to get everything just right, second-guessing every move, constantly thinking you’re missing something… always on the hunt for the perfect answer.
Sound familiar?
Look, I know this might sound weird coming from me—someone who built an entire business around teaching people how to grow their business. I’m not saying you shouldn’t learn from those who’ve gone before you, or lean on your peers for support. That is valuable.
But your gut instinct?
That’s a muscle. And if you don’t use it, you risk losing it.
Consistency is the Key
Think about it: consistency is at the core of everything that works.
Whether it’s working out, eating well, brushing your teeth, or showing up on social media—when you do it regularly, it becomes second nature.
But the longer you put something off, the harder it is to get back into it. You start overthinking it, avoiding it, building it up in your head as this massive mountain… when really, it might take you 12 minutes.
Seriously. There’s this woman on TikTok who films herself doing the thing she’s been putting off. Afterward, she tells you how long it took—12 minutes to clean a junk drawer, 30 minutes to organize her closet. Even the “big” things usually take less time than she imagined.
We do the exact same thing in business. And it keeps us stuck.
Remember When You First Started?
You didn’t have all the answers when you started your business. You were just figuring it out as you went.
You were winging it—with some passion, curiosity, and probably a little chaos. And it worked. You showed up, trusted your gut, and made things happen.
You:
- Went live on Instagram even though it made you nervous
- Booked your first in-person market without knowing how to set up your booth
- Took your product photos with a freaking iPhone and a piece of foam board
You figured things out in real time. You took action, adjusted as needed, and made it work.
But now? You’ve been at this long enough that everything feels heavier.
You hesitate on updating your product page because you’re not sure what info belongs where.
You haven’t set up your email automations because you don’t want to “do it wrong.”
You’re holding off on running Meta ads because you don’t understand the platform well enough.
You’re saying no to opportunities because they don’t perfectly fit the strategy you mapped out in Q1.
And worst of all? You’re stuck in information-gathering mode—waiting to feel 100% ready before you take any action at all.
If It’s Worth Doing…
I came across a quote recently that inspired this entire conversation:
“If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing poorly.”
Now, I’m not saying you should half-ass things and call it a day. But the way I interpret that is this:
If something matters, it’s better to do it imperfectly than to not do it at all.
Same energy as “Done is better than perfect.”
(Pretty sure that one’s from Sheryl Sandberg.)
Because perfection? That’s the trap. And for most business owners, it’s the exact thing keeping them stuck.
You Still Have That Scrappy CEO in You
This isn’t about discounting all the experience and knowledge you’ve gained. You’ve learned a ton—about your customer, your products, your industry. That learning matters.
But it can also become paralyzing if you’re not careful.
So I want to remind you:
You’re still the same person who figured this shit out in the beginning.
You’re still capable of learning, pivoting, trying, messing up, and doing better.
You don’t need the entire path mapped out in front of you.
You just need to take the next step.
And chances are… it’s the one you’ve been avoiding.
Your Permission Slip to Do the Damn Thing
The only way to rebuild that instinct muscle is to start working it again. So pick one thing you’ve been overthinking, and just do it—even if it’s messy.
- Go live on social—even if your background is a disaster
- Update your product page—even if you tweak it again next week
- Launch the Facebook ad—even if it flops (because it’s not a waste, it’s buying data)
- Publish the MVP of that email flow—even if you think it sucks
- Reach out to the influencer or brand you want to collaborate with—even if you think they’ll say no
Action creates momentum.
Momentum builds confidence.
And confidence reconnects you with your CEO energy.
You’ve got this. You always did.
Now it’s just time to trust yourself again.
And hey—just to be clear—I’m still a firm believer in having a plan, paying attention to your data, and doing things the “right” way. That’s literally what I teach.
But sometimes we swing the pendulum too far in the other direction. We get so focused on doing things perfectly that we don’t do them at all.
So let this be your reminder:
Imperfect action is still action.
And your gut?
It deserves a seat at the table too.
